St Kilda Beach holds a special place in my heart and for those of you who live in Melbourne you’ll know that there are plenty more picturesque, family friendly and safe beaches around the coastline and up North but for me, it was the place where the romance began for my boyfriend and I (wooOoo) I distinctly remember escaping the unbearable heat studying for our end of year exams at Melbourne Uni and rewarding ourselves after the sun went down with gelato from 7 Apples and more gelato from Trampoline as we chatted and joked by the sand down St Kilda beach. Geez, that seems like a life time ago!
On a 37 degree day back in Melbourne a few weeks ago, we found ourselves turning the aircon up on high and driving back down there for the only thing that I could think of eating on such a hot day: Ice-cream! I can never decide on what flavours to get; there’s way too much choice and the flavours all sound so delicious. In the end I tend to mix it up with a fruity sorbet and decadent chocolate based flavour. I gobbled down my Green Apple and Fererro Roche gelati before we even reached the beach and took a walk down memory lane …
It was the perfect Summer’s day to wear a dress (please excuse my pastiness) and I jumped at the opportunity to wear this dress again (You might remember I had to layer it up for the Chilly London weather here). Ironically I had to order this Australian dress from the US (there’s a lack of Aussie brands in the UK!) but the abstract floral print and colours had me excited and dreaming of walks along the beach and hearty dinners fuelled with wine and good company along the cobblestone streets of Old Town in Italy or France …
I love this dress and it’s still available online but the only small thing about the style of this dress is that the halter-neck styled bodice and high neckline tends to emphasise the broadness of your shoulders so if this is something you’re uncomfortable with, it might not suit your shape. You lose waist definition with this style dress but I quite like my Summer dresses flowy and for me, it’s the perfect travelling Summer dress that is compact, easy to wash and the light ruching and ruffled hem makes me feel very feminine.
I really need to get used to the sun again because after a few snaps, I began to MELT !
