TSM Shopping: Leaving London equals Shoe Armageddon

Packing. It has become the bane of my existence. I thought I’d be smart and pack months in advance (slow and steady like the tortoise in the race right?) but perhaps bubble wrapping two out 100 souvenirs and rewarding oneself with an instagram news feed refresh and nap was where I went wrong… Also, how on earth did I manage accumulate all this stuff AND fit it in this minute one bedroom studio for three years? It doesn’t matter how many full garbage bags I donate to charity or throw out, I still need more boxes to ship back to Melbourne. o.m.gee it’s about to get crowded down under.

Anyway so you’d think this would teach me to stop buying things unnecessarily right? Wrong. I’m about to leave this shopping Mecca that is London and you know, basically no other city will sell shoes (or clothes for that matter) so stockpile like the shoemakers are going on strike. It’s shoe Armageddon and in the space of 3 weekends, I’ve purchased more shoes than I want to admit… here are a just few (just in case my bf reads this eeek!)

senso qimats

These are the Senso Qimat boots which have been out for a while and I’ve finally been able to get my hands on a pair here in London which works out to be cheaper than from ordering them in Aus even though Senso is an Australian brand! Go the GBP (for now while I’m still working). I bought these in a 36 but truthfully I probably should have gone for the 37. The leather is really soft and I can tell it’s a good quality shoe but I will need to wear in the leather as it’s a little small for me.

I purchased mine here which worked out to be cheaper (and no import taxes) but you can also order from the Australian online boutique or here too.topshop gladitor heels

No I didn’t buy lopsided shoes, I just forgot to flip up the leather flap on my right foot. Oppsies. I walked into Topshop to stock up on jeans (because yes they don’t sell jeans at all in Melbourne) and came out with a pair of heels. Sigh. But as soon as I put these on, I knew they were a comfy pair that I would wear quite easily with jeans and dresses so I debated bewteen the dark green and black for a good 30 mins before opting for the more sensible boring black route. Secretly I wanted the tan ones but I have a pair from topshop already that are too similar.

Topshop Fringe Rescue Sandals

I have always wanted a pair of chucks in white for casual wear and now that my Asics tigers are well worn out (off to the charity bin – actually is that wrong to donate to charity if they are semi worn out? Hmmm) I took the plunge. I’m loving the look of the sneakers (mine are white leather as opposed to the usual white fabric ones) but I’m quite surprised that you need to wear these sneakers in … Perhaps I have over-sensitive feet or my feet are PMS-g but who would have thought. Still love them though and quite affordable for £50! isabel marant bluebell sneakers

Oh hmm yes and then somehow this happened?! Been wanting to give these Isabel Marant sneakers are trial for a while, even though I wasn’t quite sure if they were my style but the thought of travelling with a comfy pair of sneakers with an in built wedge did appeal to my insecurity about my height and laziness to wear heels so I bit the bullet and tried on this season’s new Bluebell Isabel Marants. They are super comfy as are my dicker boots so the shoes proposed and I said yes. I think I would have preferred the Isabel Marant Blossoms (with the pony hair finish for a sleeker look) but they were much dearer and I was already feeling guilty. I purcahsed mine from Harvey Nichols and since I’ll be leaving the UK I’ll be able to get VAT back too :)

Anyway I really should get back to the packing .. or maybe I should peruse the Jimmy Choo online website … JK back to packing I go

Have a great weekend guys and thanks for reading

TSM Outift Post: Falling in love with London and Louboutins

I never really believed it, but it really is possible to fall in love with a city and I know this because I get a bit choked up inside thinking and admitting that after three and a half wonderful years in London, I’ll be leaving soon to head back home to Melbourne. I convinced myself that if I don’t admit it on my blog and continue not to discuss it with close friends here, it’s not really happening (classic case of denial!). Whilst I very much looking forward to spending more quality time with my loved ones and re-discovering Melbourne through new eyes, I’m also left with other peculiar feelings such as anxiety, sadness, excitement and fear which hopefully are normal emotions for someone in my situation?!

In preparation to leave, I have learnt three things over the past few months: 1) I need to check myself into ‘hoarders anonymous’ 2) the decision to move half-way across the world has provided me with some of the best experiences and memories of my life so far and 3) how lucky I am to be able to see walk by these historic and strikingly beautiful landmarks each and every day … Tower Bridge is one of my favourites and is only a 10 minute walk from my home.

Celine Trio Magenta red Christian Louboutin Heels PiagelleThese are my trusty comfortable distressed boyfriend jeans that I’ve mentioned work well on most body shapes and can easily be dressed up with a simple pair of heels. You’ll remember that these were a travelling staple of mine from my Tuscany trip styled more casually and were inspired by a reader who wanted advice on how to wear boyfriend jeans.

It really does take time to find the right pair and I probably tried on at least 5 before I found these which were affordable and comfortable with just the right hint of ‘ventilation.’ You know you can always find an old pair and jeans and experiment with distressing it yourself (DIY) 😛

Now let’s talk about another love affair. The one most women may or may not admit to having with Christian Louboutin heels. Maybe like me, you’ve always wondered whether these Christian Louboutins are really worth all the hype and more importantly the money (first post here). To be honest, I find only a select few CL designs fit to my taste but if there is one thing that Christian Louboutins do and do very well, is make you feel like a million bucks. It’s not just about the signature red sole, but it’s a combination of the low cut sides, shape and heel design of this particular heel which makes your foot feel and look sexy. Christian Louboutins are known for being made to enhance and celebrate a woman’s femininity and walk. I’m really not explaining myself very well here but there is definitely a sense of confidence, however fake, I get from doning and strutting around in a pair of these Christian Louboutins. Whether I can last in them for more than an hour, that’s a different story #weak

This design is the Christian Louboutin Pigalle in patent black and is available in three heel heights: 8.5cm (85) (better for everyday wear), 10cm (100) and the very sexy 12cms (120). I’m wearing the 100s which is just at the height of my comfortability threshold. I’m at awe at those who can trot around in the 120s on and off camera!BCBGMAXARIA lace top

Tower Bridge London Fashion Christian louboutin celineThese are some of my favourite photos from my blog because I can see the stunning Tower Bridge in the background. If you ever do come to London, put it on your list to get to for a picture because it certainly is a lot more exciting that the actual famous London Bridge. St Paul’s Cathedral and West Minster Abbey are also other favourite landmarks of mine.

TSM Recommends: Aldo Black Ankle Cham Boots

Hi Guys! Just a quick hellowww … Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was pretty good, except for the fact that it was too short but that seems to be the trend these days… What is up with that?

I know not all of you read my tumblr and I’ve had a few more questions come through about the black boots that I’m wearing in this post here so I thought I’d provide a quick update to let you know I popped back into an Aldo store on the weekend and they are back in stock this season and in a variety of colours too!

Aldo Cham Ankle Boots

Aldo Cham ankle boots with gold hardware

Unfortunately for my Aussie readers, Aldo in Europe doesn’t ship to Australia but I did a bit of research and found a similar pair available online that is in a very similar design at the iconic and may I add, it’s a little cheaper too! I can’t speak for the quality of this one but I do know the one from Aldo is made from leather and a really comfortable height.

If anyone uses Amazon.com I surprisingly found the boots on here too.

T-Styled Me Tip …

For that extra bit of comfort, add insoles! They make the world of difference and I bought a pair from Primark and Topshop which had a sticky backing and slipped right into the shoe. They certainly help with the comfort factor when I’m late and running for the bus!

Have a great week guys!

TSM Matches Megan Park Scarf with Teacups

Even though you know I love a good cup of coffee, I’m actually habitually more of a tea drinker, leaving coffee as a social treat in attempt to avoid caffeine addiction. I’ll always have a cup of English breakfast Tea in the morning at 10am and in a Twinings’ Camomile, Honey & Vanilla herbal tea in the evenings while I catch up on TV shows and facestalk surf the Internet.

Kaz, who took pics in my last post, is also a massive tea lover. She’s taught me the funniest way to drink tea to avoid teeth staining and while it clearly works for her, I can’t manage drinking like that without spilling my tea everywhere! Looks like I’ll just need to invest in teeth whitening products in the future.

The colours of the tea cups we had at Birdmans Eating the other day matched Kaz’s newly purchased silk scarf so I wanted to quick post to share the pics of the scarf with you  …

The gorgeous print is made from 100% silk with black cotton trimmings all the way around the square-shaped scarf and is full of vibrant blues, reds, greens and … well every colour under the rainbow! It’s from Megan Park (UK designer now based in Australia) who stocks her subtle yet unique accessories and select apparel line in David Jones (Australia)

I was excited about seeing trams again so I did that embarrassing ‘tourist / parent’ thing after breakfast the other day and made poor Kaz pose in the middle of the street about 10 times before I could capture a shot of her and our unique Melbourne trams.

If you own an All Saints leather jackets you’ll know how comfortable and trendy they make you feel. They have a little more attitude than most leather jackets I’ve come across (e.g the post with Gee) and the prices are a lot dearer to match their unique designs and structure. I love the zip detailing on this particular jacket.

TSM’s Lust List: Dreaming of … Christian Grey, I mean, Christian Louboutins

I’ve been a relaxing around at home in PJs and bathrobes lately, spending most of my time with family and catching up with friends indoors in the cold weather and I struggle to remember the last time I wore heels. It was probably at least two weeks ago for work and as daggy as I am, my toasty warm feet are loving me as I pad around the house in fluffy slippers making tea and indulging in Arnott’s Mint Slices and Tim Tams as I write this post.

Photo from Wendy’s Lookbook

My friend Chai is a true heels lover, in fact, she’s one of those super women who can can wear heels anywhere and everywhere for full days without a single complaint. That’s an impressive feat (mind the pun!) considering she lived in London and we constantly climbed stairs for the tube, ran for buses and never had the luxury of owning a car for grocery shopping. She always looks great though and I’m envious because I can only manage heels for work, after work drinks (you know, because drinks numb pain) and special occasions. Are you like my friend Chai? How often do you wear heels?

If I could afford these (the answer is no) and my passion for Jimmy Choos, Christian Louboutins was as strong as Chai’s, these would be on top of my T-Styled Lust List for investment heels …

1. Charlotte Olympia Satin Pumps

These are 4” heels are available from MyTheresa.com

I love that Charlotte Olympia collections have that 1940s feel to them and as I’m not overly adventurous with heels I can imagine these neutral coloured shoes being timeless for times for weddings and parties.

2. Charlotte Olympia Dolly Suede Slingback Pumps

Available at Netaporter.com

These gravity defying Dolly shoes have Charlotte Olympia’s signature island platform meaning you’ll be towering over everyone despite still walking on 4” heels. I love Suede as an alternative to patent or plain leather but I don’t think I could walk around practically in these as gorgeous as they are! But I know a lot of you girls probably could!

3. Christian Louboutin Chiarana Cut Out Leather Pumps

While on the topic of black investment heels I came across this pair ….

Photo from Wendy’s Lookbook

Available from Netaporter.com

Sigh – Once again I don’t know if I could walk for more than 30 seconds in these 4.5” stilettos but it doesn’t stop me from lusting after a pair of shoes with a red soul, I mean, sole. As  much as I’d like to hate them because they’re so expensive, there’s just something undeniably sexy about owning and wearing a pair of much coveted Christian Louboutins. If I ever get the opportunity to wear a pair of my own, I’ll definitely let you know if it’s worth the fuss!

4. Charlotte Olympia Dotty Suede Pumps – Blush

Love the colour and … these are on sale!

MyTheresa.com

5. Charlotte Olympia Paloma fan-pleat satin pumps

These are available in an array of colours … I love the red!

Available on Netaporter.com and as seen on Olivia Palermo below (in black)

This is one of my all time favourite outfits – Olivia Palmero does Parisian chic beautifully and it doesn’t hurt to have her very suave looking boyfriend Johannes Huebl as an accessory. Photos were taken in March 2012 at a photo shoot in Tuileries Park, Paris.

Photos from Dailymail.co.uk & Opticphotos.com

I don’t consider myself a ‘shoe’ person even though my bf reminds me all the time that I’ve accumulated more shoes in the past two years in London than I’ve owned my entire life time but I just find it hard to say ‘no’ to the variety, quality and designs in Europe and just find them generally really affordable (especially at sale time).

I’d love to own a pair of Christian Louboutins or Charlotte Olympia shoes one day! Do you own a pair of Christian Louboutins ? I’m curious to know how comfortable they are on and how much wear you get out of them … Where’s the best place to get them and would you recommend them as an investment ?
